Hello fellow publishers... my name is Harry Fassett, founder, and CO-OWNER of amazines.com. I'm writing to you today, because I have the opportunity to step into the forefront, and share with you our company's Mission statement, i.e., why we are in business.
I feel like the musician "Phil Collins" from the band Genesis who did a similar thing, and stepped out from behind the scenes to become the front man for the band. His results speak for themselves, and I hope to achieve similar results for all involved.
Our CO-EDITOR Richard Boeck said, "A Company needs a purpose..." and how do you obtain that purpose?
Through your mission statement.
Whether it be for your individual life, or your company, or a company you work for. The mission statement is critical in order to really determine what you are about, why you are doing it, and to move things forward in a continuous flow of improvement.
Jerry Maguire's Mission Statement
I remember watching the movie "Jerry Maguire" with "Tom Cruz" playing a sports agent.
One night he can't sleep, has been drinking, and goes to wash his face in the sink, because he realizes he hates the way he's doing his job, and himself as a result.
He has so many clients he cannot spend quality time with any of them (making 240 calls a day), and therefore is short changing all of them.
In other words, he is giving less than 100% effort to help his clients succeed, and just treating them like another commodity.
He decides to turn his situation inside out, i.e. "less is more."
His MISSION STATEMENT...
He sits down at his computer that night, and starts typing. He types, and types, and types... he keeps writing, and writing, and writing. At the end when he finally finishes it a few hours later, he realizes he's written about eight pages, and he's not even a writer... he's exhausted, and goes to sleep a few hours.
The next morning, he gets up, and he prints out two hundred copies of his eight page mission statement, and takes them to work to put into the mail slots of every employee there then leaves.
He walks into work hours later to be greeted with Applause by almost every employee who stand to greet Him, holding his mission statement in their hands.
To make a long story, and mission statement short... his mission statement, basically stated, was this: "Agents should spend quality time with less clients, And really become a partner in their success."
The Agency Tom Cruz worked for then proceeded to fire him, because as with most big business, "Cash IS KING."
In other words, his employer wasn't about to hire more agents (thus much more overhead), to achieve what they believed was a foolish purpose.
As "Michael Douglas" said in the movie Wall Street, "Greed is good." WRONG.
AMAZINES.COM MISSION STATEMENT
FOR PUBLISHERS
The purpose of AMAZINES.COM is to provide publishers a channel to interact (joint venture), develop, and grow their "OPT-IN" lists, and business simultaneously by having the ability to build and develop as a publisher community together.
We are a conduit for publishers that are like themselves. In other words if you are looking for the green M&MS, we provide you the green M&MS. If you are looking for yellow M&MS, we provide you the yellow M&MS.
FOR SUBSCRIBERS
We are continuously, and aggressively looking for new ways to draw subscribers (end users), who are looking for excellent, up to date, special interest information, as well as small businesses who are looking for just the right ezines through which to advertise their goods and services.
In other words, as our slogan goes,
"We are the place where publishers, and subscribers connect."
