Taking Things Seriously by Stuart Reid

How serious do you take your on-line business? Are you professional about it? Do you set time aside each day to take care of it?

Too many people put up a web page, place some affiliate links, submit it to the search engines and wait. Some will put it in rotation into a startpage exchange or similar, but the result will be the same. Few, if any, sales.

You need to be proactive! Just sitting back WILL NOT WORK! There is no such thing as free lunch (among many cliches I could use :-) ) so you get what you put in. Take it seriously. Set tasks for each day. Have a methodical method of working.

Here is a suggested daily routine for your business:

1. Check and reply to e-mail. 2. Read site reports, such as hits and referrals. 3. Update site (if necessary). 4. Promote site. 5. Research new content, ideas, products.

This is a good, basic routine to follow. It's too easy to wander if you don't keep yourself to your strategy. Each section above could be combined with others, e.g point 1 could also cover most of the rest (you can do a *lot* with e-mail) but in the main it's what you SHOULD be doing!

Just remember that to make money you have to put effort in and you have to be prepared to treat it like a real business and follow a plan!
